Un informe publicado por los grupos de salud pública Trust for America’s Health y Well Being Trust, menciona que estas muertes, relacionadas con el consumo de drogas, alcohol y suicidio, cobraron la vida de 36 mil jóvenes millennials tan sólo en 2017, siendo la sobredosis de opioides sintéticos, como el fentanilo, la causa de muerte más común.
