According to the Colorado Health Institute, reports of eight or more poor mental health days each month among millennials rose from 12 to 24 percent between 2015 and 2019. Nationally, millennials are dying by suicide and overdose more than Gen Xers did at the same age, according to the Trust for America’s Health and the Well Being Trust. The problem continues in Gen Z, those born between 1997 and 2012: A United Health Foundation report shows Colorado’s teen suicide rates jumped by 58 percent, the highest increase in the nation, from 2016 to 2019.
