Responding to the Current Youth Mental Health Crisis: A Virtual Workshop
This Mental Health Awareness Month the Forum for Children’s Well-Being will host day virtual workshop focused on the promotion of positive mental health health in children in youth. Over the course of three days—May 2, 4, and 9—the Forum will bring together expert presentations, lived experience perspectives, and community-level strategies for responding to the current youth mental health crisis and preventing the next on. U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy will join the discussion on May 4 at 2 p.m. ET.
Day one of the workshop will feature speakers from the Children’s Hospital Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Family Voices National, and will focus on the national response to the current youth mental health crisis. Day two will highlight how communities around the country are working on a paradigm shift towards promotions and prevention activities in youth mental health. The final day will explore what we can learn from three states on responding to challenges to support mental heath promotion for children and families.
