Veterans Day Spotlight: The Critical Need for Mental Health Support and Resources for Soldiers

Veterans Day, a significant national observance, is dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who have served our country with honor and courage.

It’s also an opportunity to recognize the ongoing challenges many veterans face, particularly in terms of mental health, and to actively support their well-being.

By providing veterans with the necessary resources and support, we honor their service and dedication while promoting their overall well-being and successful reintegration into society.

The statistics are sobering. Twenty veterans die by suicide each day; 30 percent of active duty and reserve military personnel deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan have a mental health condition requiring treatment; of the 30 percent, only half of returning veterans in need receive any mental health treatment.

As we observe Veteran’s Day, Providence’s Well Being Trust is sharing the following resources supporting veterans and their families.
