April is Alcohol Awareness Month, a time to expand knowledge about alcohol use and its effects on health. According to a study published by the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 29.5 million people ages 12 and older had alcohol use disorder in the United States in 2022.
The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism is sharing their major initiatives for this year’s iteration, including preventing children and adolescents from beginning and continuing to drink alcohol and offering effective intervention for problem alcohol use to all ages. ■ In 2022, 3.2 million youth ages 12 to 20 reported binge drinking at least once in the past month
