For Christmas this year we want everyone to #BeWell!
We know your shopping list may be long already, but here’s one more gift you can give the people you care about: give your friends and family a friendly check-in. How are you doing? How are you doing? Checking in doesn’t cost a cent, but it can make all the difference in someone else’s well-being and recovery.
Popular culture may tell us that the holidays are supposed to be the hap-happiest season of all, but for many people, they can be the most challenging time of the year. The holiday hustle and bustle, along with the short, dim winter days, can leave anyone feeling stressed and overwhelmed, but holidays can be especially difficult for people who have recently experienced loss, like the loss of a loved one, a painful breakup, or a challenging health condition. The extra pressure to be merry can make current challenges even more difficult to face.
So call up a friend you haven’t seen in a while to catch up. Take your mom out to lunch. Ask a little sibling how school is going. If you have any friends or family spending the holidays alone, ask if you can visit them. We never really know how the people in our lives are doing until we ask. Thoughtful presents are wonderful, but sometimes the best way to show the people we love just how much we love them is to #BeThere for them.
We want to know what Christmas means to your mental health and wellbeing. Join the conversation on social media by using the hashtags #BeWell, #BeHeard, and #BeThere.
